Accept an invitation

When an organization admin invites you, you get a link to join their organization. The link may arrive by email, or the admin may copy it and send it to you another way. It’s the same link either way.

In the app: open the invitation link (…/invite/…) in your browser

Before you start

  • The invitation is tied to one email address. You must sign in with that exact address. Capital letters don’t matter.
  • Some invitations require a Microsoft account. If so, you must choose Continue with Microsoft when you sign in, not an email and password.
  • Invitations expire. By default a link works for two days. After that, ask the admin to send a new one.

If you don’t have a Kenseme account yet

  1. Open the invitation link.
  2. Kenseme opens the sign-up page with your invited email address already filled in. Create your account, or choose Continue with Microsoft if the invitation needs it.
  3. If you signed up with an email and password, verify your email address when asked, then sign in again. See Verify your email address.

Kenseme accepts the invitation as you sign in and takes you to Home in the new organization. Home shows a one-time note: “You’ve joined \ as \.”

If you already have an account

If you’re signed out, open the link and sign in. The invitation is accepted as you sign in, as above.

If you’re already signed in, the link shows a confirmation card:

  1. Check the organization and role on the card: “Join \ as \?”
  2. Click Accept invitation.

Kenseme adds you to the organization, makes it your current organization and opens Home. Click Not now to leave without joining. The invitation stays open until it expires.

Tip: You don’t have to click the link at all. Every pending invitation sent to your address is accepted automatically the next time you sign in.

The page says What it means What to do
This invitation was sent to a different address You’re signed in with another email. The page shows the invited address, partly hidden. Click Sign out, then sign in with the invited address.
This invitation requires signing in with Microsoft You’re signed in with an email and password account, but the invitation needs a Microsoft account. Click Sign out, open the link again and choose Continue with Microsoft.
This invitation is no longer valid The link has expired, been revoked, already been used or replaced by a newer one. Ask the organization admin to send a new invitation.
Something went wrong Kenseme couldn’t process the invitation. Refresh the page to try again.

Note: When an admin resends an invitation, Kenseme issues a new link. The old link stops working, so always use the most recent one.

For privacy, This invitation is no longer valid never shows which organization the link was for.

What you get

You join with the role the admin chose: Read Only, Read/Write or Admin. See Roles in Kenseme. If you belong to other organizations too, you can move between them at any time. See Switch between organizations.

For admins sending invitations

Invitations are created from Organization Settings › Users. A pending invitation uses a seat until it’s accepted or revoked. See Manage users in your organization.
