Search and use industry standards

Once your organization has enabled some standards, you can search across them from the Standards page and hand them to the ontology generator as grounding context.

In the app: Business Context › Standards › Search Standards

Before you start

  • The Industry Standards feature must be on for your organization, and at least one standard enabled. See Industry Standards overview.
  • The Standards page is for organization administrators.

Search the library

  1. Go to Business Context › Standards.
  2. In the Search Standards panel, type what you’re looking for in Search classes, properties, codes….
  3. To search a single standard, pick it in the All standards dropdown. This dropdown appears when at least one standard is enabled.
  4. Click Search.

Each result shows:

  • A badge with the standard’s code.
  • The entry’s compact identifier (its CURIE), when it has one.
  • A relevance score.
  • Where the entry sits in the standard, when available.
  • The matching text.

If nothing matches, you see No matches. Click Clear to reset.

Note: Search only ever covers the standards your organization has enabled.

If the page shows “Standards is not configured in this environment”, search isn’t available yet, but you can still see the catalog, enable standards, and use them in the generator and the New Ontology wizard.

Ground an AI generation in a standard

Grounding hands a standard to the ontology generator as background. The agent reads the standard’s summary and outline, searches its entries while it works, and can cite them, so the ontology it drafts uses published vocabulary instead of invented names.

Start from either place:

  • From the ontology generator. Open Data Context › Ontologies and generate with an agent. In the Industry standards source, pick one or more enabled standards alongside your other sources. See Generate an ontology with AI.
  • From the Standards page. Click Generate ontology on an enabled standard. The New Ontology wizard opens on the From an industry standard path with that standard already picked. See Import a standard as an ontology.

Tip: Grounding and importing are different. Grounding uses a standard as reference while the AI models your business. Importing brings the standard’s own classes into an ontology. Use grounding when your model should follow a standard’s language; use importing when you want the standard itself.
