Sign up and the onboarding wizard

Getting started with Kenseme takes two moves: create your account, then set up your organization. The setup wizard walks you through the second part, whether you start with a free trial code or subscribe straight away.

In the app: Sign up at the top right of the header when you’re signed out, or go to /signup

Beta: Self-serve sign-up, trials and online payment are beta features. If someone has already invited you to their organization, you don’t need this page. Follow Accept an invitation instead.

Before you start

  • Decide how you’ll start: with a trial code (no card needed) or by subscribing now with a card. See Plans and pricing.
  • Have the email addresses of any teammates you want to invite. You can also invite people later.

Create your account

  1. Click Sign up in the header, or go to /signup. The sign-up page opens directly, rather than the sign-in page.
  2. Choose Continue with Microsoft, or register with an email address and a password.
  3. If you used an email and password, verify your address: open the email Kenseme sends, click the link, then sign in again. See Verify your email address.

Because you don’t belong to an organization yet, Kenseme opens the setup wizard, Set up your workspace. See Create your first organization for what else that page offers.

Step 1: Company

Tell us about your company. This creates your organization, and you become its administrator.

  1. Enter the Organization name. Up to 255 characters. You can rename it later.
  2. Optionally, enter an Email domain, such as contoso.com. Only people with an address at that domain can then be added or invited.
  3. Choose how you’re starting:
    • I have a trial code: a 7-day Business-tier trial, no card. Enter your code in the Trial code field.
    • Subscribe now: pick a plan and pay by card, with no trial. The trial code field disappears.
  4. Click Continue. With a trial code, Kenseme checks the code first (the button reads Checking…). If the code can’t be used, the reason appears under the field. See Start a trial or redeem a code.

Continue stays disabled until you’ve entered a name and, in trial mode, a code. The hint “Enter your organization name and trial code to continue.” tells you what’s missing.

No trial code? The wizard links to the Kenseme sales team so you can ask for one.

Step 2: Team

Invite your team. This step is optional. Click Continue to skip it.

  1. Enter a teammate’s email address.
  2. Pick their role: Read Only (the default), Read/Write or Admin. See Roles in Kenseme.
  3. Click + Add another for more rows, or the × to remove one.

A caption under the rows shows how many people you can invite. In trial mode that’s up to two teammates. With Subscribe now it’s up to four, the number the Business plan includes besides you.

Each teammate gets an invitation with a secure link and stays pending until they accept. If email isn’t set up where you’re signing up, an alert says so. The invitations are still created, and you can resend or copy their links later from Organization Settings › Users.

🚩 TODO: The trial plan in the plan catalog allows 1 seat, but the wizard says the trial includes 3 seats and lets you invite 2 teammates. Invitations over the seat limit are refused and reported on Home after setup. Confirm the intended trial seat count and update this step and Plans and pricing.

Note: Every pending invitation takes a seat. In Subscribe now mode you invite people before you pick a plan, and Team includes only 2 seats: you and one teammate. If you then choose Team without extra seats, the invitations that don’t fit are refused and listed in the note on Home. Add seats from Billing & Plan, then invite those people again from Organization Settings › Users.

Step 3: Goals

What do you want to do first? Pick any that apply. This step is optional.

  • Document existing databases: import schemas and generate AI descriptions.
  • Build an ontology / semantic layer: import OWL or generate one from your schema with AI.
  • Stand up a business glossary: terms, definitions and stewardship.
  • Sync with Microsoft Fabric: push ontologies and bindings into your tenant.

Your answers reorder the setup checklist on Home, so the steps that match your goals come first.

Step 4: Trial or Plan

The last step depends on how you started.

With a trial code

Your trial is ready summarises what you get: your code, the plan (Trial, 7 days), Business-tier features with Fabric sync excluded, seats and AI usage.

Click Go to my workspace →. Kenseme creates the organization, starts the trial and opens Home.

With Subscribe now

Choose your plan shows two cards, Team and Business. Business is marked Recommended and selected by default. Each card shows the monthly price, seats and relative AI usage, all taken from the current plan catalog.

  1. Click the plan you want.
  2. Optionally, set Extra seats on the selected plan. The line underneath shows what they add per month.
  3. Click Continue to payment →.

Kenseme creates the organization and sends you to secure checkout to enter your card. Once payment succeeds, your subscription becomes active and you return to Billing & Plan.

For Enterprise, click Talk to us to email the sales team. Enterprise isn’t sold online.

If you don’t finish paying

With Subscribe now, the organization is created before checkout. If you close the checkout page without paying, the organization exists but is awaiting payment:

  • The organization is read-only, and new AI work is blocked.
  • A banner across the app reads “Your subscription isn’t active yet. Complete payment to unlock your workspace.” with a Complete payment button.
  • Billing & Plan shows the Awaiting payment badge and a Complete payment button that reopens the plan chooser.

If checkout can’t start at all, Kenseme says “Your workspace was created but checkout could not start — complete payment from Billing & Plan.” and takes you there. See Account states and read-only mode.

What happens next

Home opens with a one-time note confirming your organization is ready and listing the invitations that were sent. The Finish setting up checklist then guides you through inviting your team, importing a schema, building an ontology and more. See Your home dashboard.
