System Administration

Manage organizations

Admins only: This tab is for site administrators.

The Organizations tab is the roster of every organization on the deployment. From here you create organizations, add or deactivate members in any of them, and suspend an organization without deleting anything.

Create an organization

  1. Click Create Organization.
  2. Enter the Organization Name (required, up to 255 characters).
  3. Optionally set an Email Domain (optional). If you do, every member must have an address on that domain, and the dialog checks addresses as you add them.
  4. Optionally add people under Members (optional): type an address, pick a role (None, Read Only, Read/Write, or Admin), and click Add. You can change a role or remove a person in the list before you save.
  5. Leave Send invite email to added members checked to email each person a sign-in link, or clear it to add them silently.
  6. Check Switch to this organization now to go straight into the new organization.
  7. Click Create Organization.

Members you add here join immediately; they don’t go through the invitation flow that organization admins use. Staff addresses can’t be added as ordinary members, and the same address can’t be added twice.

Manage an organization’s members

Click the group icon (Manage users) in a row’s Actions column. The Manage Users — *organization* dialog shows the same member grid organization admins see, with role drop-downs and deactivate or reactivate buttons.

Add User here adds the person to the organization straight away (with a role you choose) instead of creating an invitation. Leave Send invite email checked to send them a sign-in link. The organization’s seat limit still applies; to add someone past it, raise the seat limit with Overrides on the Billing tab first. As a site admin you aren’t held to the organization’s email domain.

Disable or re-enable an organization

Disabling suspends an organization without deleting anything.

  1. Click the disable icon in the row’s Actions column.
  2. Enter a Reason (required).
  3. Click Disable organization.

While disabled, members get read-only access and non-admin members can’t open the organization at all. The status reads Suspended.

To undo it, click the re-enable icon and confirm Re-enable. Members regain write access.

The same controls, plus forcing read-only without suspending, are on the Billing tab. See Billing administration. For what members experience, see Account states and read-only mode.
