Attributes

Apply attribute values on glossary terms

Custom attributes on terms capture facts a definition doesn’t: the source system, a regulatory reference, the date the term was last reviewed. Each glossary chooses which attribute groups its terms get.

In the app: Business Context › Glossaries › your glossaryAttribute Groups

Before you start

  • The attribute group and its attributes exist. See Create attribute groups.
  • Your organization must not be in read-only mode.

Assign groups to a glossary

  1. Open the glossary and click Attribute Groups.
  2. Turn the Assigned switch on for each group the glossary’s terms should carry. Each change saves immediately.

Assigned groups apply to every term in that glossary. Different glossaries can use different groups.

Fill in a term’s values

  1. Open the term and go to its Attributes tab. On the Info tab, the ATTRIBUTES card has a pencil that takes you there too.
  2. Fill in the fields for each group. Required fields are marked with *.
  3. Click Save.

Kenseme returns you to the Info tab, where the ATTRIBUTES card shows the saved values. For how each input behaves, see Apply attribute values on schemas and their objects.

Set values for many terms

The term page sets values one term at a time. To load values in bulk, use a glossary import:

  1. Export the glossary with Include custom attributes ticked. The file shows the expected format. In CSV, each attribute is a column named Group.Attribute.
  2. Add the values to new terms in the file.
  3. Import it.

Import only creates new terms, so it can’t change values on terms that already exist. Values that don’t fit the attribute’s type, or don’t match one of its choices, are flagged in the import’s validation review.
